Job Details
As the primary financial executive of the Tribe, the successful candidate will be relied on to direct the Tribal government’s accounting practices, financial planning and budgeting, management and reporting, and external auditing, in addition to serving as the primary manager of all Tribal investments. Key functions will include ensuring the enforcement of, and compliance with the Fiscal Management, Budget and Appropriations, Budget Hearing, and Procurement Ordinances. Involves monitoring the financial management and accounting practices of Tribal entities not operating within the Tribal government structure. The Finance Officer will also be charged with developing and fostering relationships with government agencies, banking and lending institutions, investment managers, the financial community and Tribal members.
We are in search of a candidate possessing a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics or a closely related field; professional accounting certification (CPA, CMA, CGFM); and 10+ years of financial, accounting, budget and supervisory experience, including 7+ years at the executive management level. Requires advanced knowledge of Generally Accepted Governmental Accounting Principles, business accounting, and budgeting and auditing standards/practices. Knowledge of accounting and compliance for funding from governmental grant agencies (both federal and state) is also a must. Experience with annual indirect cost proposal to Department of Interior National Business Center is preferred, as is knowledge of medical clinic accounting, budgeting and auditing. Must be proficient in the use of a variety of financial analysis and other business software, including Microsoft Office programs. Familiarity with SQL-based accounting and management systems is preferred.
