Job Details TYPE OF APPOINTMENT: Assistant or Associate Professor, Tenure Track RESPONSIBILITIES: Primary responsibility will be to teach accounting and business related courses at the undergraduate level. This position includes reassigned time from teaching responsibilities for mentoring and building relations with current and potential American Indian students and with regional and national American Indian communities. The faculty member should anticipate involvement with interdisciplinary teaching and distance learning delivery. The individual hired will be expected to participate fully in departmental matters. The successful candidate will demonstrate a passion for teaching and mentoring students. Also, the faculty member should anticipate involvement in activities which support Bemidji State University’s signature themes of: environmental stewardship, civic engagement, and global/multicultural understanding. QUALIFICATIONS: The candidate must possess extensive knowledge of North American Indian tribal communities and must demonstrate the ability to build relationships with local, regional, and national tribal communities. The minimum academic requirement is a master’s degree or equivalent in accounting or business administration or a related field. Professional certification in addition is preferred. A terminal degree in accounting, business, or related field from a regionally accredited university is required for tenure consideration. A terminal degree can include a Juris Doctorate for faculty assigned to teach business law. The Endowed Chair will be held by a faculty member who demonstrates significant experience with North American Indians and North American Indian tribes and communities, as well as who demonstrates considerable familiarity with North American Indian history, spirituality, culture, language and tradition.
