Management
SYCUAN US VALUE FUND.
The Sycuan Band of the Kuymeyaay Nation, as a part of the tribe’s economic
development strategy, created Sycuan Capital Management, Inc. a registered investment
adviser and launched the Sycuan U.S. Value Fund in 2003. The fund is designed
to provide an investment vehicle that will allow investors diversification and
professional management within Indian Country.
Cody Martinez is the Tribal Council Treasurer to the Sycuan Band of the Kuymeyaay Nation. Mr. Martinez is also the President of Sycuan Capital Management, Inc., the investment advisor to the Sycuan U.S. Value Fund.
Sycuan Capital Management, Inc. has selected A.Q. Johnson & Co., Inc. to act as sub-advisor and make the day-to-day investment decisions for the fund. A.Q. Johnson & Co., Inc. uses a philosophy known as value investing to uncover U.S. companies whose shares are trading at a discount to their intrinsic value.
Sycuan is one of the first tribal nations to enter the financial services industry and is the first-ever 100% tribal-owned investment advisor.
