SUMMARY:Energy Access and Reliability on Tribal Lands Listening Session (external event)
DESCRIPTION:Register\n \nThis virtual listening session\, hosted by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Indian Energy\, will explore challenges and potential solutions related to energy access and reliability on tribal lands. The goal is to gather important insight directly from Native Nations regarding the current status of unelectrified homes and electricity reliability issues facing tribal communities.\nThe Energy Act of 2020 included specific requirements for DOE to conduct research and report back to Congress on these topics. In accordance with that Act\, the Office of Indian Energy is hosting this listening session to provide tribal leaders and staff from energy\, planning\, natural resources\, and other relevant departments the opportunity to make recommendations on the report.\nThis is a follow-up to the first listening session the Office of Indian Energy hosted in November 2021; however\, attendance at the first session is not a prerequisite to participate in this one. During this listening session\, the Office of Indian Energy will discuss the results of the questionnaire conducted during the first session and share findings from the report to date. SUMMARY:Webinar with Department of Energy on Direct Loan Solicitation as part of the Loan Programs Office
DESCRIPTION:NAFOA will host a webinar with the Department of Energy on Thursday\, July 28\, at 1:00pm Eastern Time to discuss updates to the Loan Guarantee Program. Interest and relevance of domestic investment in energy increases each week notwithstanding uncertainties. There is no debate that energy development can boost Tribal economies. These include key changes to the debt capital program\, aimed at increasing tribal energy development to unlock the energy potential of Indian Country. This includes the ability to offer loans through the Federal Financing Bank directly to tribes. NAFOA welcomes staff from the Department of Energy and LPO office to discuss these changes and how tribes can use them to their advantage. \nThis webinar will take place July 28th from 1:00pm to 2:00pm Eastern Time and will be recorded.
