The NAFOA Institute Career Basics (formerly known as The NAFOA Academy) is an online career readiness and personal finance program designed for 18-26-year-old Native American youths. The program offers coursework that provides opportunities for participants to improve career readiness, personal finance skills, and advance their understanding of issues impacting tribal economies.
The Leadership Track of Career Basics is free and open to eligible youths. Coursework within this track are specifically designed to prepare youth for the NAFOA Leadership Summit.
Youth ages 20-26 years old participating in Career Basics are invited to apply for the NAFOA Leadership Summit.

All participants within the age of 20-26 years old who are actively participating in Career Basics are invited to apply for the NAFOA Leadership Summit.
Young people accepted into the NAFOA Leadership Summit participate in seminars led by top executives, managers and tribal leaders for one day prior to the Fall Finance and Tribal Economies Conference. Following the summit, participants attend NAFOA’s fall conference that facilitates dialogue between tribes, federal partners, nonprofits and professionals regarding tribal finance and economic issues.

Need-based funding for conference fees, hotel accommodations, and airfare assistance are available for eligible Leadership Summit participants.
Additionally, the dress code for the NAFOA Leadership Summit and NAFOA Conference is strictly business formal. To help attendees meet this expectation a $125.00 clothing stipend is available for all accepted program participants.
