The Senior Grants and Financial Manager is responsible for independently managing all aspects
of grants administration—including both federal and non-federal awards. This role provides
comprehensive pre- and post-award oversight, encompassing financial and administrative
functions, programmatic support, project budgets, subcontract and subgrantee administration,
compliance monitoring, and financial analysis. Serving as the primary liaison between the
Executive Director, SEF Board, subgrantees, and funders, the Senior Manager ensures seamless
communication, accurate financial reporting, and alignment across program, financial, and
governance priorities. The position plays a key role in supporting board-level reporting,
compliance with federal regulations, and the overall effectiveness of SEF’s grantmaking and
fiscal management.
Education and Experience
• Bachelor’s degree required; preferred fields include accounting, finance, public policy, or
public administration.
• 2–4 years of experience in grant administration, grant accounting, financial management,
or related fields; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Direct experience managing federal grants, subgrantees, and compliance
requirements strongly preferred.
• Experience preparing proposals for federal and non-federal grants.
• Previous work experience in nonprofit organizations desirable.
Skills and Competencies
• Strong financial and analytical skills with demonstrated ability to interpret and apply
federal regulations, Uniform Guidance (2 CFR 200), and reporting requirements.
• Experience monitoring and supporting subgrantee performance, including financial and
programmatic compliance.
• Advanced proficiency in Excel and financial data management.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present information
clearly to funders, staff, and board members.
• Strong organizational, administrative, time management, and critical thinking skills.
• Capacity to serve as a trusted board liaison, preparing reports, dashboards, and financial
updates that inform governance and strategic decision-making.
• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while
maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
• Commitment to professional growth, with demonstrated initiative in assuming increased
responsibility and leadership
