1. NAFOA NEWS: TRAVOIS SUPPORTS TWO NAFOA PROGRAMS WITH $25,000 DONATION

Travois recently donated $25,000 to support two NAFOA professional development programs, which help Native professionals with their continuing education goals.

The donation will help provide scholarships for Native professionals to attend the 2024 Leadership Summit and participate in the Leading People and Investing to Build Sustainable Communities (LPIBSC) program. Each program has an overall mission to empower Indigenous communities and build Tribal economies.

“Travois is so excited to see the amazing things these young Indigenous leaders will accomplish for their communities,” said Phil Glynn, president of Travois. “NAFOA is investing in the next generation of Native business leaders, and we are grateful to them for the opportunity to join that effort.”

The NAFOA Leadership Summit provides a fully funded opportunity for Native young professionals ages 21 to 27 to enhance leadership skills, meet industry experts and build a network with their peers. This immersive experience is targeted toward individuals interested in Tribal governance, economic development and business and finance.

Applications to attend the Leadership Summit are due Feb. 10.

The LPIBSC program is a collaboration between NAFOA, Harvard Business School (HBS) Executive Education and AFOA Canada. It is the only Executive Education program of its kind in North America. During the four-day program, Harvard Business School faculty, Indigenous guest speakers and participants from Native Nations in Canada and the U.S. gather on the HBS campus to attend interactive sessions and hear diverse perspective from their peers. At the conclusion, participants will receive a Harvard Business School Certification of Program Completion.

Applications are due Jan. 15. Admission to the program is highly competitive and early application is encouraged.
